December 1st starts the Hawaiʻi Audubon Society’s 7th annual Kōlea Count. Email me in the contact tab to let me know where you would like to count our amazing Pacific Golden-Plovers. For a mini-adventure, choose a site unknown to you. I did that last year and had a wonderful time finding new places to explore on Oʻahu. The list of suggested locations is here.
In the meantime, celebrate kōlea and all the other birds that help make our Islands so special at our annual dinner party. You don’t have to be a member to come and if the $65 ticket price seems too high (the price of everything seems too high these days), it’s fine to buy the student rate. No one is asking or checking student status since our point is to get bird fans together to share some fun and some updates. Another point is to enjoy a good meal in a lovely place. Food from Da Spot is excellent and the Atherton Halau is open air on the Bishop Museum grounds where we will enjoy a special hula performance.
Please join us for both the Count and the Party. Deadline for our catering order, and therefore ticket sales, is Tuesday, November 10th.)
Chuweet,
Susan Scott (Kolea Count creator and Hawaiʻi Audubon Society president)
